After having played it for several hours, I can say that up till now, I have not really been plagued by any notable performance issues. The one gripe I have, is that the controls -- I play with a XBOX controller -- are not as tight as I would like them to be. I'm in no means saying that the game is unplayable though and it actually plays better than I expected, especially since the game was originally designed around the use of the Wii motion controls. One thing I noticed was that the king sometimes keeps moving forward after I have let go of my left analog stick. My controller is getting older, so it is very much possible that is not caused by the game.The graphics are an upgrade from a game that was released a couple of generations ago, so they are not going to blow you away. Still, the cartoony look does not really require the most advanced graphics anyway, so as long as the game looks nice and crisp and runs properly, I'm more than fine with it. The art style of the game -- just look at the king -- does shine through though and this elevates the graphics quite a lot.The game itself is really fun to play and I can see why so many people are praising it. For a more in-depth analysis, I would suggest checking the other reviewers, since they are way more knowledgeable and I have yet to finish it. I mainly wrote this review to inform others that were anxious about the performance issues. I would suggest to make the purchase when there is a discount, because the price is a bit high even if the game is worth it.. Absolutely nothing but positive now.Now to the game itself. I think it still looks pretty. They went for a style that suited the technology, that's clean and simple and looks great when scaled up. It certainly isn't the BEST looking game but it still looks nice.The cutesy aesthetic mixes with a bit of dark humour and some silly wordplay. (Having the priest of the Sect of Soup say "Ramen" instead of "Amen" is just brilliant in my opinion.)The gameplay is rather straightforward, and I've already found 3 bosses within 2 hours of play. It definitely feels easygoing overall (before I realized when you die there's no checkpoints and you revert to your last save, save often) It's a lot more pikmin than RTS so far.If I run into anymore issues I'll definitely update this but with a GTX970 I can't say I have too many complaints about the functionality (obviously kind of overkill for a wii port, but it's not like I can test it with anything less.) This is my first time playing this game and I'm enjoying it immensely.If you're on the fence maybe wait for a few patches or a sale and try it out, I think the PC lacks games like this and it very much has a Nintendo Wii Hidden Gem flare. I would love to see more games like this on the platform.. Really good game, but a terrible port. The last two times I played it it crashed and its unplayable at 60 fps. The controls arent that great and it just feels like they just copied and pasted everything and nothing was optimised in any way.That said, Little King´s Story is still one of my favourite games of all time and if you get the chance to play it in the Wii I highly recommend it.. The port is not good. Framerate is terrible and it crashes often.. The game is just as fun as on the Wii. Looks good and plays good! I have only played with an xbox controller and there is no way to rebind the controls, I hope this functionality will be added later. The clunkcy controls and UI is similar as they were on the Wii but does not harm the expereience of playing the game. My favorite game on the Wii! Still as fun as the wii version! Upgraded graphics!. I appreciate all the optimizations attempted for this game, but the accuracy issue just makes this game stressful and unfun. The Wiimote flawed as it was allowed some accurate shots. On PC I accidently sent someone a click off and they're running past the target. So many times this would be off cliffs. That one chef I have for chickens missed, fell off a cliff, and now I got to recollect them and make my way back around to try again.Also a small issue with the game in general; staircases. Once you upgrade to 17 people staircases are nightmares. You need to use evade form and even then you might somehow accidently lose someone.If this game had A) a greater target threshhold (more room for error), B) so that your royal guard doesn't accidently fall off cliffs just following you (only if you send or call them off), and C) have it so when you call your guard they jump or something and aren't just limited to a ground path, then this game could be worth it. But right now it's just frustrating.. This game is so wonderfully weird. I played it as a kid and was terrified of what I now consider its charm. Wonderful tactics, great expansion, and a very fun gameloop. I've encountered a few issues, but none that have substantially inhibited my gameplay. $20 is a bit of an asking price for what amounts to an HD version of a Wii game, but I paid full price and feel very satisfied. 8/10.. Much, MUCH better.They have done nothing to remedy my issues with the controls. If you play this game with a keyboard, you will be fighting the controls as hard as your guards fight the monsters. Seriously, they're atrocious, and you really do just need a controller. Menus are still confusing and unclear. But it's playable. And even fun.So that's the tech side. The side that caused me to give this game a "no" before. And half of it's fixed, and the other half isn't. So am I going to say yes?Yes.This game oozes charm, wit, and personality. The game is an astounding Pikmin-esque game that evolves upon itself and improves its gameplay as it goes on. Shortly after things get more complex, it gives you better sorting options. When your party gets too large to consistently get through small passage ways, like bridges, it shortly after gives you a command for a single file line. The sheer number of classes makes the Pikmin franchise's seven paltry colors whine (I love Pikmin), and Overlord just pretends this game isn't there.The Real Time Action Strategy core is complemented by a kind, simple little kingdom management minigame that honestly acts as your power progression. There's not much to it, but there ARE some fun secrets to find, and some challenges to be had. Don't expect anything too complex from this part of the game.The storyline is adorable, but the real treat is the story that goes on around the main one. I'll let you experience all the wonder this game has to offer on your own. Because honestly? It's best experienced that way.The combat is brutal. The boss fights are BRUTAL, memorable, and fun. And frogs are still the worst.Do I recommend this game? Yes. Do I think this version is worth $25? ... It's got some issues. Not all the controllers it supports actually work well, and it's not as though the game runs flawlessly. It's a Wii port, after all. I'd recommend getting the Wii version of the game if you're not dead set on playing this game in HD.But if you are, then hey. XSEED has you covered now. But if you want to play it, I urge you to either wait until they fix it, or just buy the Wii version. Playing this game with WASD is a nightmare, the camera is unresponsive, and you have to guess to get to the controls menu. It's not the 8-point control scheme that does this, it's the fact that the camera takes forever to respond AND you need to control it using q and e, so... Camera and movement with the same hand? Poor design choice.The camera isn't even responsive while playing with a normal controller, though I'll admit it's significantly better than trying to play with the keyboard. And the menus are still difficult to navigate. It's all a little "not quite there". Of course this is the preferred method, so whenever anyone DOES get this game, I urge you to have a controller handy, as the mouse and keyboard combo will NOT be fun for you.I cannot recommend this game highly enough, but I also cannot recommend this version for $25 as it stands now.
